These books introduce children to the nation’s watershed, the Continental Divide, and how snowmelt forms the headwaters of the rivers and streams that bring life to the land below along the front range of the Rocky and San Juan Mountains. The entire water cycle is described from evaporation to glacier formation, and the various life zones along the way—from alpine tundra to prairie and farmland—are detailed and illustrated with exquisite drawings. There is further discussion on how we use water, the treatment process, and what happens to water it after we use it.

Inspired by the author’s third grade class in Boulder, CO, these  books also  feature illustrations from students in elementary clasrooms from both Colorado and surrounding rocky mountain states.
